The former was scratched and the latter walked over. Duuediu Cup of 50!) soys., added to a sweepstake of 10 soys each; second horse 5-J soys., third 20 soys., two miies and a distance. .Nine horses started, Ariel 9st 71bs letnplelon, dst 3lbs, JJribery J»st, Hinnocampus Bst 31bs, Longlands 7s 81us, Titiinia 7st 31t>s, Cloth of Gold 7st lib, Unknown, 6st J2lbs, Chancellor Gst Slhs. After several false starts all got away together, but Cloth o£ Gold soon dropped behind, the others being all in a bunch. Changes of position were frequent to the end, when they came in in the following ordur.— Templetoii 1 iitama 2, Ariel 3, Longlands 4. Teniplcton was a tew yards ahead of Titania, who was followed closely by the other two. Tim" t mins. Pungawerewere, Obcron, ViruiiiVj and Luna were scratched. Betting, 50 to •■>() against Tctnpleton, 10 to I against Titania irom 3t05 to 1 against Ariel. The time' was the fastest ever done on the course. Newmarket Stakes of GO soys, one mile and a distance, two entries.— Mr Smith's Swede, 5 yrs, 9s 21 bs, and Mr O'Jirien's Xantippe, 3 yrs, 7s Blbs. Very exciting race, the horses being neck and neck to the winniii" post, X.-mtippe winning by a neck. Jietting even. Time 2 mins 18 sees. Publicans' Handicap of 100 soys., 1J- miles. —Mr Eraser's Trump Card, 3 yrs, 8s 3lbs, 1 •' Mr Walters' Isaac Walton. 5 yrs, 7st ulbs, 2; Mr Dclamaiu's Überon, 3 yrs, 7st 41bs, 3, Mr JJeJamain's Pungawerewure -i. A good start, Isaac Walton leading. Passing the back of the course Isaac Wai ton had the lead, Puuga being out of it. Coining up the straight Isaac Walton led, closely followed by Trump Card, (Jberon 8 or 10 lengths behind, and at the winning post Tnunp Card won by about a neck ahead of Jsaac Walton, Ü boron and Puuga beuig several lengths behind. Time 2 imas Hi sec 3. Letting, '2 to 1 on Trump Card, even betting agst Punga, and 3 to 1 agst Isaac WaltQjj aud Oberon. i
Champagne Stakes of 10 sots, with 10H sots added. Six furlongs.— Three started. Mr Delamain's Atlantic, 2 yrs, Bst lOlbs, 1 ; Mr Pollock's Captain Douglas, 2 yrs, Bst lOlbs, 2; Mr Gardner's Amulet, 2 yrs, Bst lOlbs, 3. Time, Imm 24.V sees. The race rested between Douglas a"nd Atlantic, who ran close all round the course, the latter winrung by two lengths.. Betting, even on Douglas, and 3 to. 2 ligst the others. Selling Race of 50 soys, the winner to be sold for ,£■(>. ' One mile and a half.— Three horses started with the following result:— Mr J. Andrew's Exile, 7st 121bs, 1- Mr A. Smith's Big Kurivae, Bst 51bs, 2; Mr H. Samson's Sir William, 7sfc 12lbs, 3. Exile fell behind till he came to the straight, when a spurt was put on and he passed Kurivae, Sir William having gone lame and dropped out. Exile won by about a length and a half. Time 2 mins 57 sees. Betting, even on Kurivae and Exile. Friday, 2.40 p.m. Duuedin Jockey Club Handicap : Templeton 1, Louglands 2, Ariel 3. Time 3mins. 17secs. Obero n was scratched for the Derby, which was a walk over for Trump Card, the only other horse.
