TuBNING THE TABLES. _ John Bungate. was charged, on the information of C. K. Turner, with committing wilful perjary in the recent case of Meades v Harvey. Mr Fell appeared for the prosecutor, and Mr Acton Adams for the accused. Mr Baddeley, Clerk of the Court, gave evidence similar .to. that in the .previous cases. !C. K Turner stated : On the 14th of May I brought a load of wood" into town, and started again a little after two, and got out just before dark. I was not out that day in company with the two Harveys. Bungate could not have seen ua that day as he was in the bush cutting firewood. I 'saw Isaac Harvey in town on that day. Cross-examined: I delivered the wood at Neale & Haddow's, and went straight frou there over the bridge home. I saw Isaac Harvey in town. He was riding. I cannot say^whether I was ten or 100 yards from \.7_. I went out shooting on the 15th of Mny with William Harvey. The next time I went out shooting was on the 24th with the two Harveys. To the best of my belief I was not on Meads' ground at all during the month of May. I certainly was not on the 14th. William Harvey: I am son of Isaac Harvey senior, and brother-in-law of the accused. On the 14th of. May my brother Isaac rode into town to see a lawyer about some cattle of my father's that had been pounded. He returned home between two and three in the afternoon with some of them. The others had bolted into the bush. He and I and my father went after them and got them in after an hour and a half's work. We milked and fed them and turned them out. I was not out shooting that day. It is not true that on that day I passed Bungate's house with my brother and Turner. I did not see Turner that day at all. Cross-examined: Turner and I went out shooting the next day on our own land. The next time I went out shooting was on the Queen s Birthday. Turner and Isaac were with me. We had three dogs. We did not kill any pheasants. We were on Withers' and Turner's land. My brother rode into town on the morning of the I4th and returned in the afternoon. Isaac Harvey stated that on the 14th of May he rode into town about some cattle that had been pounded. I left home between eight and nine a.m., and got back about three, after which I got some cattle from the bush and milked. I saw Turner in town that day. I was not out at all that day with Turner and my brother. The case was still proceeding when we went to press.
