COLONIAL PRIZE FIRING.
Hokitika, Tuesday. Showery this morning until two p.m., wnen heavy rain set in, putting a stop io all shooting. There is every appearance of the rain continuing; glass falling. The 700 yards range of the Marksmen's Match was got through witli great difficulties, Chapman, of Canterbury, taking the range prize with a score of 21 points. Wednesday. Rain continued to fall during the best part of last night, but the sun broke through about 8 o'clock this morniug, and it is now fine, though the ground is very wet and sloppy. At 8-30 the Rifle Marksmen's Match was resumed, and A. Sutton took the 800 yards range prize with a fine score of 24. The winners of the match prizes are:— Chapman (Canterbury), 38; A.Sutton (Marlborough?, 36; Turner (Wellington), 36; Richardson (Dunedin), 35; Acheson (Uiverton), 34. The Carbine Marksmen's Match is now going on.
