A bye was run off bis first ball, and Leach snicked tbe fourth for one. In Emmett's next over Corfe made a magnificent cut for four. Runs now came fast, cuts for two and three by Leach and a splendid leg hit by Corfe for four eliciting loud etieers. At 1 _0, twenty went up amid loud cheers. Corfe made two mere singles, and then a splendid break back from Emmett scattered his bails, 22 I— ll. Watson filled 'the vacancy and commenced scoring, making two singles and a cut for 4 rapidly. Hill relieved Uiyett, aud in Emmett's next over Watson lost his leg stump. 28 — 2 — 6. Stevens appeared aud played the rest of the over. Hill then clean bowled Leach. 28-3-8. H. W. Moore joined Stevens, and slow scoring followed for a time, then Moore returned the ball to Hill. 34—4-2. Sampson appeared. Emmett bowled a maiden, aud the first ball of Hill s ne*t over dismissed Sampson. 34—5—0. At two o'clock they adjourned for luncheon.
