Buddie, Wastney, Hill, Broad, Martin, Burn, Malcolm, Atkinson, Cresawell, Archdeacon Thorpe, Ta'bot, Holder, Rout, Smith, Simmons The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. The question of the amount of grant to be made to the Upper Moatera Committee for the current year was again conrftered. when it was resolved that the Upper Montere Committee be requested to prepare plans and specifications for the proposed addition to Swat* school-room, with a view of their being submitted io the Board. A motion that £7 10a be allowed for cciliog the teacher's bouse stNeudorf was lost, on a division. Ayes, 3; Noes, 5. Resolved, That Mr Tarr*nt be requested, to rlsit Neadorf, with the viaw of reporting on ! the question of sinking a new well, or otherwise improving the water supply. The Lower Tnkaka Committee having signified thfir assent to the proposed ate ratlon of the boundary between the Takaka and Motapipi districts, the Secretary was instructed to have the new boundary as agreed to gazetted. Resold d, That £56 Is 64 be allowed to the Upper Wakefield Committee to defray the cose of building a chimney, and effectiog j sundry repairs at Upper Wakeßeld school, and of adding to Foshill school. I A correspondence h iving been re«d between the Secretary to the Board, the Provincial Treasurer, anl the Provincial Auditor, reftrr ng to the payment of the proportion of the poceads of land sales to which the Board is entitled, it was re«olved that the further consideration of this que:tion be deferred until nest meeting. Mr Simmons obtained leave to make the following addition to the notices of motion given by him at la<*t meeting .— Thafi the « hools being classified, the present teaebtrs be deemed h«l<iers of certiorates in the class corresponding to tbe class of their several schools. Besolved, That Me Simmons be added to tbe Board of Examiners, and that his notices of motion be referred to that Board, with a view to its reporting thereon at next meeting. Mr Hill obtained leave to postpone until next month bis notice of motion, limiting school holidays to four weeks in the year Resolved, Thafc the application of Mrs Collins, -.for a subsidy to a third school at Blackett-taet, Charleston, be refused, on the ground thatVnple school accommodation is already provifed there. A propositioV to add £20 to Ihe safary of the matter at Sfbke having been considered, the following amendment was lost on a division, That there being other teachers in a similar portion io Mr Barnetfc, the Board sees no sufficient reason for nuking a special exception in his case. Noes, 7— Mesar* Smith, Dencker, Hill, Atkinson, Wastney, Talbot, Broad A Jetfcer was read from the Sacretary'of the Westland Board of Education, proposing that a school, to be attended by tbe children residing at Brnnnerton and WaUsend, should ba built on the left or WestNnd side of the Grey; such school to to erected ami maintained at the joint expense of the provinces of We^t'and and Nelson. Sesolved, That this proposition be declined on tbe ground thifc the Board has no power, under the Education Act, to expend any moneys outside the province of Nelson. Notices op Moiion i.
