RAILWAY EXTENSION MEETING AT FOXHILL.

A well attended meeting was held at Mr Jems' Hotel, Foxhill, last night, for the purpose of considering the best means of securing the extension of the railway from the present terminus st Wakefieid to Foxhill. Statistics were adduced by persons present proving that the carriage of at least forty tbouaaud fees of sawn timber besides a considerable amount of firewood fencing, &c, would be lost to the railway if the extension was not made, as the owners of the saw mills on the Foxhill side of the Wai-iti would continue to convey their timber to lown byroad rather than subject themselves to the expense of keeping teams to cart it to the Wakefieid station, and the damage that would neoeasarily be incurred by reloading; whereas if the proposed ex-/ tension were effected the mills would construct tramways join the line and to load direct on to the railway trucks, besides which it was contended that the facilities afforded by this extension, combined with the extension from the Wn termioas to the port would . create an export trade, and thus largely add to the earnings of the railway. In order to put these and other suggestions into / proper form it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Jervw, seconded by Mr Boddington, that Messrs Watty, Holland, and Grove be appointed to draw ap a memorial for signature in Watmea Sonth. liwaaalso resolved that the citizens of Nelsoa be requested to go-
