MOKIHINUI.
From Mokihinui the news comes that Mr. Rawaoo, with his survey party, baa almost completed the track up to the reefs. The work has been well done. Matters at tho reef's are quiet, expectation being lulled until the first stroke is struck in erecting the Halcyon mnchioery. A miner Darned Stevenson, the original prospector of Caledonia Terrace, with a mate named Price, haa gone on a prospecting tour up the Wanganui river with the intention of meeting another prospector named Hurst, wbo some little time ago went for a similar purpose up tbe Mokihinui. They propose meeting on tbe Crown range at the hea.J waters of both rivers, and expect in pro. pectiog tbe intervening country to strike payable ground. They have plenty of provisions, and have each been about four weeks out. Complaints come from the Mokihinui that timber is being cut on the bank at tbe river mouth, aod the earth dug away in reckless fashion, thus causing the river to encroach and spread to the detriment of tbe bar.
