There is growing excitement and party irritation in Paris and Versailles owing to Gambetta ; 8 denunciation of the Bonapartists Yesterday afternoon a gre«t crowd assembled at the Paris station of tbe Vertailles railway, which was strongly guarded by the police, when Count Sainte Croix struck M Gambetta with a stick. The scenes at the Paris railway station were repeated, but the police vigorously r~ • pressed all disorder. In the Assembly the Left moved a want of confidence motion in the Minister. Interior of the laxity in dealing with theßonapart'sts, but the m >tion was rejected by 377 to 326.

The Government have suspended for a fortnight, and intend to prosecute, the Bonapartist papers for publishing seditious articles in La Rappel, and an ther journal. The Steele is ako susepnded for a fortnight.

The Left Centreintroduced a Bill to-day for proclaiming a Republic, and conferring the Sept- nniate upon terms of receiving a Constitution. The issue of the motion was most anxiously awaited. The Right Centre approved of the movement, but hesitated to break with the Right, and the Radicals, though objecting to the constituent power of the Assembly, supported the Bill, wishing thereby to crush the Bonapartists. When the question came on f r discussion, the Assembly, amid great excitement, votsd the Left Centre's Bill by 345 to 341. The Radicals voted with the majority, and the Deputies in the Right Centre went chiefly with the minority, while Ministers voted with the minority. The As.; embly rejected the motion favoring the restoration of Chambord to the throne.

Count Sainte Croix has been sentenced to pay a fine arid to two months' imprisonment. The race for the Grand Prix of Paris was won by Mr Marshall's Trent Feuld ; Saltorelle second; Mr Crowther Harrison's Toma,hawk third.

The vote arrived at in the Assembly on Monday for the proclamation of tho Republic will not affect the Ministry. The constitutional motions arc referred to the Committee of Thirty for consideration and report. The Republican journals Bay that the Republic will cot be proclaimed, but tbat a Monarchy has now become impossible. The Orleanist organs say that the position is unchanged, only that Macmahon's power is consolidated.
