The Hon. Colonial Secretary to his Honor the Superintendent of Nelson.

Sir— I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 25th insiant, calling my attention to your Honor's letter of the 17th of July last, in which you asked for an advance to the Province of Nelson of the sum of five thousand pounds (£5000) from the funds available for aiding the development of coalmines, for the purpose of constructing a wooden tramway from the Brunuer Coalmine to the mouth of the River Grey, and to inform your Honor that the Government will give the matter its best consideration.
