Sir— With reference to my letter of the 28th October, acknowledging the receipt of your Honor's application for an advance to the Province of Nelson of a sum of £5000 for the purpose of constructing a wooden tramway from the Brunner Coalmine to the mouth of the River Grey, I have now the honor, in reply, to inclose a copy of a letter addressed to myself by the Honorable the Minister for Public Works, embodying the views of the Government upon that subject.
