RIFLE MATCH.
A match between the City and Waimea Rifles, ten men on each side, came off at the Maitai Butts on Saturday, and resulted in the defeat of the latter by 19 points. The wind that sprung up in the afternoon interfered sadly with the firiDg at the 500 -yards range, but even at the other ranges the red and white flag was displayed from the Butt far too seldom, and the red one a great deal too frequently to be satisfactory, and our men will require to improve considerably upon the shooting of Saturday if they are to make any show in the , Colonial contest. The justice of these remarks will be allowed aiter a perusal of the scores, which were as follows : — City Rifles. 200 yds 400 yds 500 yds Total
