CRICKET.

The match between the Hitherto invincible Wakefield club, and an eleven selected from tbe Town and College clubs was played on Saturday, and resulted in an unexpectedly easy victory for the latter. The effects of practice were plainly manifested in the bowling of tbe Town side, that of Cross being very destructive, and of Blundell of too dangerous a nature to be trifled with, a very different state of things to that which prevailed in the match played in Victory Square three weeks ago. The fielding too was exceedingly good, as shown by the number of catches that were made. The Waker field men wer6 certainly unlucky, but they also showed signs of being out of practice, an evil which they will, no doubt, take care to remedy before the return match is played. The scores were as follows : — Wakemeld Club. Ist innings. 2nd innings. S. Powell, b Blundell 6 c Barnicoat... 2 F. Burbush, b Cross 0 c Cross 7 K Knapp, b Cross 1 c Speed 13 H. At the termination of the game, the bat, for which the match was played, was presented by the captain of the Nelson team to Mr. Cross, to whose excellent bowling and batting the result was mainly due.
