CENTRAL BOARD of EDUCATION.

The monthly meeting of the Board was held on Thursday last, the chair, in the absence of Captain Rough, being taken by Mr. Barmcoat. On the motion of Mr. Greenfield, it was resolved, That the Board cannot, during the current educational year, apply any of the funds at its disposal for building purposes to the removal of the Panaatotara school. A letter was received from his Honor the Superintendent informing the Board that Section 24 of the "Religious, Educational, and Charitable Trust Estates Administration Bill," now before the Legislative Council would satisfactorily meet the desire of the Board with respect to the power of selling or exchanging lands vested in it for educatioual purposes. On the motion of Mr. Burn, it was resolved. That the question of removing Upper Wakefield school, and of closing Foxhill school be referred to a Committee to whom also should be referred the desirability of other such removals. The Committee to consist of the Bishop of Nelson, Mr. E. M. Smith, Mr. Jennings, Mr. Bout, Mr. Barnicoat, Mr. Wastney, and the mover. Mr. Greenfield gave notice that he would move at the next meeting of the Board that the salaries of all teachers of schools under the control of the Board shall be re-considered.
