A recent Melbourne paper says: — We are informed that the Government proposal to pay a bonus of £5,000 to the successful planters of the beet-root sugar manufacture here has had some effect. A directory is in course of formation for a company to be called the Victorian Beet-root Sugar Company, a meeting of which will be called early next week.
