A Lovely Mixture
TROUBLE IN THE LABOR PARTY
SECRETARY CALLED ON TO RESIGN.
AUCKLAND, Dec. 1. Divided opinion appears to exist on the Auckland Council of the United Labor Party oh the question of settling industrial disputes by arbitration and conciliation. The council, by 29 votes to 27, has called ort the secretary (Mr. T. Welsh) to resign, and in an interview Mr. Walsh states the reason for the council's, action was the fact that he had strongly opposed the pro-syndi-calist policy advocated by a section of tile party. The United Labor Party had an absolutely unique chance of establishing a great progressive organisation, but had failed signally through truckling to syndicalists and supporters of the Industrial Worker* of +.he World.—Press Association. OTHER "SPLITS." A week prior to this item a paragraph appeared in the "Dominion ,, to th© effect that a third Labor Party was in course of formation at Auckland —one which disapproved equally of the Federation of Labor and the United Labor Party. In addition, the "Lice of Labor" now proclaims- itself "official organ of the N.Z. Labor Party." It and its predecessor having disrupted the' Liberal Party and next tried to ruin the Federation of Labor, now would wreck the bona fide Labor Party—.all in the interests of Masseyism, and doubtless without reward, if "ratting" ever goes unrewarded*
