Secessions and Additions
THE INVINCIBLE FEDERATION. GAINS DURING STRIKE EQUAL LOSSES. WONDERFUL. SURELY? The "boosts ing" of them by the enemies haß created the impression that secessions have been sensationally numerous'■ Nothing has been said about additions, which for a time were rapid. And within the past few weeks four new unions,' knowing the worst Of our terror, etc., have voluntarily and without pressure affiliated with the Federation of Labor. They are: Paparoa Miners' Union (unanimous). Poverty Bay Construction Works Union (unanimous). Port Chalmers Marine Laborers (170 for; against, 1). Whangarei Laborers' Union (27 for; against, 3). In each case a ballot was taken, end the voting must be regarded as remarkable, all things considered. Other ballots are now proceeding to join the Federation, and we know of none other being taken to leave it. Glenhope "Workers', Union and Oamaru Watersiders are practically certain to affiliate within a few weeks. Then, remember that in almost every Labor Party union Federationißts are a strong and influential minority. Nothing is truer than that the trend of unionism is Federation-Wards. Forward to victory 1
