GREY DISTRICT DEMONSTRATION.

Demonstration yesterday huge success ; thousands present. Not a*. wOVd* appeared in the morning paper. Following resolution enthusiastically carried ;—
"That this mass meefting of the workers and citizens of the Grey district emphatically protests against the manner in which the Massey Government has placed the police force at tbo command of the Waihi mine-own-ers and the Government's class administration of tho law in an effort to force the miners back to work under brutal conditions; that this meeting further demands th© immediate release Of the unionists of Waihi who have been so outrageously thrown, into prison for crimes that were never committed." —HUNTER. . GISBOBME-NAPt'ER RAILWAY WORKERS. RESOLUTIONS CARRIED. (I) Way the workbrs of the GisbonreN_pi«fr railway, Nga-tapa* section, do hereby prot_-t against the introduction of the intended contract system foreshadowed by ths Minister of Public Works', a. we are of opinion that an iaaproved co-operative principle- ia ia th» b&t interest of therailway construction workers and the fcoantry in- general ; (2) that* we, the workers of th<s GisboriKS-Napier railway, Ngatapa section, do strongly protest against the jailing of the strikers at Waihi, and* dernaud their immediate release, and we also ceusnrw th« Government for sending extra police to Waihi, as we believe such action was not warranted, as in our opinion it is the intention of the authorities to provoke trouble, and we also ask the same to.be withdrawn. — J. The following resolution has been telegraphed to the Premier: "The Nelson Waterside Workers emphatically protest against the jailing of peaceful strikers at Waihi, and urge the Government to immediately take steps to release them."
