Ready in 1914!

UNITED LABOR PAJtTY MILITANT.

MR. FOWLDS'S PROPHECY

"I don'tthink anything will disturb the present Government till the end of the present Parliament," said Mr. George Fowlds to a reporter in Falmerston North.

"And then ?"

"By that time there will, I think, be only two parties appealing to the country. Those two parties will be. on the one haud the Radical party, which means the United Labor party, and oft the other hand those who are opposed to them."

"What will have happened to the Moderates in the meantime?"

"The present Liberal party is, _ I think, being disintegrated very rapidly —the conservative element in it going to Mr. Massey and the radical element coming with the United Labor party."

"And accepting its platform ?"

"There is nothing on the. platform of the United Labor party that any good Radical could not support; and, on the contrary, there is absolutely no community interest or ideas between the Conservatives in the. Liberal party and the Radicals in that party. They have got to be separated and resolved into their natural elements."

"You would not like to do a little sorting out now, I suppose?"

"Well, I don't think it would be proper for mc to do that."

"Some prominent men- have already come with you into the United Labor party?"

"Yes. There ie Mr. Hogg, of Masterton ; Mr. Bedford, of Dunedin, the wellknown barrister, is a very likely man' to be in the next Parliament. He was Mr. Millar's opponent at the last election, and very nearly won. Mr. McCombs, of Christchurch, another candidate at the last election, is also one of our prominent members. I have been impressed with the type of men all over New Zealand who have intimated their willingness to contest country seats for us, and that is a good test of their enthusiasm."

"You expect to be ready in time for the next struggle?"

"Yes. The natural life of the present Parliament ends in December, 1914. T think our party will be all ready then to throw down the gauntlet to all the Conservative forces of the country."
