In Ilomo the semi-official organ of the Vatican lias taken upthosubjo-nt. "Socialism," says tho paper,'"is increasing all over the world. In Germany and France it almost controls the State, and in Italy, under the new franchise, it has become the strongest homogeneous party in the country. "In Austria-Hungary Socialism is spreading rapidly, while- in the. Ulrited Statos and England the masses are approachiinc; more and more closely to the Socialistic ideal. Belgium is also rapidly absorbing Liberalism." According to several Roman Catholic authorities Socialism is fundamcntull/ oWosod to Christianity.
