TURKISH UNIONS.
So little is known of the social movement, of Turkey that it is interesting to see that trade- unions arc now being startod. At Constantinople a union has bowi formed by tlw cabinetmakers, by the tailors, tho railway workers ot A'natnlia. Ab Broussa a union ot silk weavers, at tfmvma a union of shop assistants and a society of mutual aid among railwayman, at , Zounguldak a minors' union, at Drama Karvala, Xudtuo, at Gumuldjina and Gowgeh unions of tobacco workers. Ihe cluef ivntre of tho movement, is Salonika, the most modern town of Turkey, which also is at the head of the political movement, The local union of tobacco workers was recently on strike, and gamed a victory. There exists also a society of mutual aid among the tobacco worker of tho HoKie. a union of mak , and female cotton weavers (the fact that moii and women aro together iv one union lor the same purpose is important m Turkey , !, the union of porters, commercial assistants, a mutual aid society for the railway men of the lino Salonika Monastir. '.Recently other workers have begun to form unions in Constantinopli"; the tramway employees, bakers, cotton w-eavers, arsenal workers, Itegio tobacco workers., printers, at Salonika the cabinetmakers, jute workers, railway workers and employees.
