FEDERATION IN THE NORTH.
P. C. Webb passed through Wellington from Auckland on his way to the Coast last week. While in the north, Webb was successful in bringing about a satisfactory agreement between the Hikurangi Miners' Union and the Mining Company. The basis of the new agreement shows an increa.se on the old rates prevailing, and goes to bear out the statement that since the cancellation of registrations, every union in the Federation which has demanded an increase has secured it. The Hikurangi Union are very pleased with the I settlement. I The trouble at Kamo, Whangarei,
has also been adjusted, a temporary agreement having been effected pending the development of the mine. Whilst in Auckland, the Federation President waited upon the Watersiders' Conference and outlined the principles of organisation laid down, by the N.Z.F.L.
