Timaru for Socialism.
Howard and Cooke have been down here speaking on Socialism, and a Socialist x'arty has been formed by most of the old" Labor Party, who are of opinion that there is nothing to bt gained by working for that party, and ' iat tne* Socialists are the only people who know what they want. A committoo has been elected, with Com. Gould as secretary. Arrangements are being made for local comrades to speak on tne street on Saturday, and Sunday evenings. Comrades Cafrd and Gould were oiected to speak on Socialism and Industrial Unionism, with a touch of Compulsory Military Training. It was deeded to contest the Timaru seat at th next election, Comrade Gould being the selected candidate, failing a better man from headquarters, m which case he would stand down. Com. Smith spoke on Socialism on the Empire corner and literature and Maobiland ivokkers advertised and sold. Timaru is surely waking up.
