Liquor License Trust for Invercargill

(Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, .March 21. Tho formation of a trust to control liquor licenses in Invercargill is being considered by the Government according to a statement made by Air. W. M. C. Denham, M.P., at a meeting of the City Council and bouth Invercargill Borough Council to-night. Air. Denham said that this trust would have executive and administrative powers. Its personnel had not yet been determined, but the City Council and South Invercargill Borough Council could have representation. The State would find all the capital necessary to put the scheme on a proper basis and the profits would go to the Southland district to be spent to the benefit of the whole of tho community. After hearing Mr. Denham the meeting carried a resolution that the two Mayors and two town clerks should go to Wellington to discuss the whole matter with the Prime Minister and report back to another meeting. A motion that the mooing was of opinion that & referendum should be taken on the two issues of private control and community control as outlined by Air. Denham was also carried.
