At the monthly meeting of the W.D.F.U. Mrs. J. Af. Graham presided. A vote of thanks was accorded Afrs. T. A. B. Sinclair for acting as secretary | during Airs. Oxenham’s absence. The j president reported on the meeting at j Massey College and stated it was the intention of Southern Hawke’s Bay to, try to arrange a visit to the college in October. A report was also given on the visit of Airs. Lamplough, a member of the Dominion Advisory Board, to Southern Hawke’s Bay executive. Airs. Forbes (Mayoress) appealed for knitters for the Forces as 140 pairs of sox were required by June. Airs. T. A. B. Sinclair was appointed treasurer. It was decided to hold the annual meeting a week earlier owing to Easter Monday being the second Monday. The meeting is to bo advertised. Rev. A. Penn gave an address on the position of the Church in Europe, stressing Die importance of the work done in the various countries by 1 all denominations. A letter of thanks was sent to Alaster Mac. Ridd who had presented the W.D.F.U. with a black fleece from his pet lamb. It was decided to send a letter to Airs. Holland who had had an anxious time over her son’s health. Airs. F. Hurley was welcomed as a new member. The competition for the best flower was won byMrs. Mitchell, Airs. Gardiner being second. The sponge cake donated by the president was won by Mrs. O. C. Morriss. Votes of thanks were accorded the hostessess (Alesdames Sinclair Gardiner and Hume) and the stall holders.
