New Zealand Alliance

At a meeting of the Palmerston North executive of the N.Z. Alliance (Mr. Dorset presiding), it Avas resolved to support headquarters in asking that a complete enquiry bo made into the Invercargill voting. It was stated that many votes accepted as \'alid votes by the magistrate had no place of origin but were votes for restoration. It was resolved, too, to ask the Palmerston North Licensing Committee to take note of the large number of convictions during the year of licencees and to ask that where the licensee of a house had been convicted on more than one occasion in the year, the law relating to the taking away of the licence should be brought to bear upon the owners. It was resolved also to call tho attention of the Licensing Committee to the fact that the Midland Hotel had opened again the bar in the Square and in addition had a bar approached from Cuba Street. The Alliance was strongly of tho opinion that tho luav was being evaded. The programme for the Avinter was under discussion and looked promising for good meetings.
