Cooperative Building Society

The chairman of directors. Mr. D. P. Smillie, presided at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Co-opera-tive Building Society, when business was conducted in all groups. Successful shareholders in the ballots for free of interest loans were Mrs C. Baldwin, Palmerston North, £IOOO in No. 9 Group; Mr. A. L. M. Ramsay £7OO, Mrs E. M. White £2OO. and Mrs. M. M. Cronin £2OO, all of Palmerston North, and Mr. C. G. Rowe, on Active Service, £2OO, in No. 10 Group. The acting secretary reported that the final redemptions had been paid on loans in Group 4. Profits of £3 per share were declared and will bo distributed to the shareholders in this group. Applications for loans were considered and £3OO in Group 11 was approved on the security of a Napier property. £l5O was provided for additions to a dwelling at Manawatu Heads and in Group 12 £SOO was authorised to be placed on deposit. Further applications for shares were received in Group 13 and it was indicated that this group would proceed to allotment at an early date. Appropriations in Groups 8, 10, 11 and 12 were arranged for the next meeting.
