HAWERA TROTS ABANDONED HAWERA, March 10. The Hawera Trotting Club, consequent upon the effect of rail restrictions, has been forced to abandon its two-day Easter meeting scheduled for April 8 and 10. RACES AT HIM AT AN GI. I The programme of a race meeting held at Hiinatangi on January fi, 1880, will indicate that the officials of that day made little or no effort to cater for “squibs” and “scrubbers.” The halfdozen races on the programme were: (1) I Hurdles race, 2 miles; (2) Produce race, li miles; (3) Pony race, 1 mile; (4; ! Himataugi handicap, 2h miles; (5) Gate 1 Purse handicap, 1 h miles; (G) Consolation handicap, 1* miles. The conditions were: “All horses to carry one stone over weight for age. No one eligible to enter a horse without being a subscriber of £1 to Race Fund. All disputes to be decided by the Judge whose decision shall be final.
