Feilding Live Stock Sale BREEDING EWE MARKET BRIGHTER

GOOD DEMAND FOR FORWARD LAMBS. Both breeding ewes and store lambs met with a ready sale at the Feilding live stock offering yesterday when prices were somewhat firmer*on late rates. Recent rains have brought away pastures and this has given confidence to finishers and breeders who operated freely. Store sheep sections held offerings in excess of advertised numbers and selling was continued until late in the afternoon. The mutton and beef markets were quiet with small offerings based on the influence of rationing. , Mutton was in very short supply and prices were slightly better although there were passings. Fat Sheep. As with beef, operations in the mutton section were governed by caution. The yarding was short and this accounted for the improvement in values over last week’s quotations. In the caso of wethers the adjusted schedulo was reflected slightly in the values. Realisa tions were.—Fat ewes: 8 at 14s 7d; 7 at 16s 4d; 4 at 13s Id: 12 at 14s IQs; 9 at 15s Id; 8 at 11s lOd; wethers: 7 at 23s 7d; 13 at 22s 7d; 11 at 22s Id; 19 at 22s 7d; 34 at 22s 7d; 2 at 21s 4d; 6 at 23s Id; 2 at 22s lOd; lambs: 18s 10s, 22s Id, 22s 6d to 28s lOd for prime sorts; blackfaces: 225, 23s Id to 23s lOd. Buyers were offered a good selection from well bred 2-ths on account of stud breeders to good straight lines of 5-yr. ewes.
