Pigs, Poultry and Produce
The Dominion Auctioneering Coy. Ltd., Palmerston North report receiving a capacity yarding of poultry at their usual weekly sale held on Thursday all classes being a little easier in value. Pigs were in fair demand baconers selling from £3 to £3 5s each, light porkers to 44s and weaners to Bs. Fruit and produce wore in heavy supply a total clearance being made at the undermentioned prices:— PIGS: Weaners 7s to 8s; slips to 15s; light stores 25s to 30s; light porkers to 445, baconers £3 to £3 ss. POULTRY: Heavy cockerels 5s lOd to 7s Id each, medium 3s lOd to 4s 6d, light 3 s fid to 2s fid; heavy hens 4s to 5s 4d, light 2s 8d to 3s 7d; best pullets 14s to 15s, backward 6s to 9s* ducks 3s to 5s fid. PRODUCE: Peaches 8s to 12s fid case, plums 10s case, quinces 10s fid to
13s 6d case, tomatoes Is fid to 4s case, peas fid to lOd lb., beans, best 4d to 7d lb., others Is fid to 3s fid case, marrows 3s fid to 3s fid case, pumpkins 12s fid to 16s sack, water melons to 2Ad lb., jam melons 8s to 10s sack, lettuce Bs.to 19s fid case, carrots to 16s cwt, cabbages 16s cwt, rhubarb 3s 3d bunch, silver beet to 21s cwt, cucumbers Is fid to 5s case.
