Bunnythorpe

(From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a large crowd present and an enjoyable time was spent by those who attended the social afternoon organised by the Anglican Ladies’ Guild. Cards were won by Mrs. C. Pinfold and a competition by Miss Powell. . A popular member, Miss Lelia Powell, was the recipient of a gift in view of her approaching marriage. Mrs. Abraham, president of the Guild, wished her every happiness in the future. The hostesses, Mesdames Mitchell and Stevens, served tea. On Saturday afternoon the Bunnythorpe Women’s Institute were the organisers of a social afternoon in honour of their popular president, Miss Lelia Powell, whose marriage take* place shortly. The winner of the cards was Mrs. A. Pinfold, and two travelling parcels were won by Mrs. D. Pedersen and Mrs. Booth. Mrs. H. Pedersen was the winner of "Housie.” During the afternoon Mrs. Gunn, lady superintendent of the St. John Ambulance Association Nursing Division, made a presentation on behalf of the Bunnythorpe members and wished Miss Powell every success. Mrs. Faulkner, Vicepresident of the W. 1., then made a presentation on behalf of those present and stated that, as Miss Poweil had made such a success of managing a large number of women in the institute, she should have no difficulty in managing her future life. The esteem in which she was held was amply demonstrated by the large number present and all wished her every happiness. Mrs. D. Pedersen and family, of Mangamaire, are the guests of Mrs. Pedersen’s mother, Mrs. Powell, Roberts Line. Mrs. Davies is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Wood. Mrs. Martini has returned from a holiday spent in Hamilton. Miss Sparrow has returned from a holiday In Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Bicknell and family, who have been spending a holiday at Taihape, have returned home. Mrs. Williams, of Paraparaumu, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Fowler.
