SWIMMING ACTIVITIES

Arrangements for Next Evening Meeting

VISIT OF OLYMPIC REPRESENTATIVE A largely attended meeting of the committee cf tho Woodville Amateur Swimming Club was held on Wednesday evening. The president, Mr. J. Sullivan, presided. The secretary of tho Alanawatu Association wrote, forwarding a schedule of a meeting to be conducted among primary and High School pupils at Palmerston North shortly. The objects of the meeting wero also included. Confirmation of tho projected visit of the former Olympic swimmer, Air. Dave Lindsay, to tho club’s next evening meeting, was also announced by the secretary, Air. E. Stitt.

A hearty vote of thanks, carried by acclamation, was accorded Mr. B. Goodman foi; his donation of a cup for competition among the women members of the club, to be won outright. Tho officials for tho next evening meeting will be the same as controlled the last sports, except for the appointment of Capt. L. H. Jones as announcer. After the finalising of the appointment of the officials, the committee ar ranged, tho programme of events for Saturday evening’s swim, provision being made for a number of visiting swimmers from Palmerston North and Dannevirke, who will be taking part. The committee also decided that trophies to the value of Is and 6d for juniors and 2s Gd for seniors be awarded to successful competitors on club nights. Appreciation of donations of trophies by Mr. C. P. Nash, of Palmerston North, and £1 Is by the president, Air. J. Sullivan, was heartily expressed. Dannevirke Carnival. Woodville entries for the Dannevirke Club’s carnival are as follows:—33 1-3 yards and 100 yards, J. McCool, R. Loach, L. Watkins, Al. Vo well and F. Rossitter; open dive, R. McNeil; 50 yards, ladies, Misses E. Single and 1. Hayes.
