From Our Own Correspondent At' tho breaking-up ceremony and prize-giving of the local school, Air. I. W. Mudfoid, representing the Education Board, presented the prizes as follow: —Dux of school, Lorna Richardson. Girls: Lorna Richardson 1; run-ner-up, Lola Rowland. Boys: Sydney Rice; runner-up, Graeme Voss. Class prizes: Form 11, Lorna Richardson (proficiency), Evelyn Richardson (diligence) ; Form I, Betty Ilawko (drawing and handwork), Aliriam. Afternoon tea w r as served and a number of items were given by tho children.
A jolly evening was spent in tho hall when a Christmas party w T as held for the children by tho Women’s Institute. The time was spent in games and dancing. Great excitement prevailed when sleigh bells were heard in the distance and in a short time Father Christmas arrived amidst hearty cheers from the children. The main feature was a large Christmas tree brightly decorated with rod electric lights, presents, sweets and balloons which were presented to the children by Father Christmas. Airs. H. N. AlcEwen, president, received a posy of pink and blue flowers. Supper was served and dancing for adults continued till a later hour, streamers and novelty dances adding to the pleasure of the evening. Music was supplied by Aliss Voss, Alessrs. S. and D. Rowland and I. Fraser.
Personal. Sergeant C. Waddell was home from Trentnam on final leave. Mr. and Airs. 11, Paul and family are tho guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. N. McEwen. Air. and Airs. AI. Richardson and Alisses E. and L. Richardson have returned home from a short stay at Paraparaumu Beach. Aliss N. Croad is staying with her sister, Airs. S. Richardson. Aliss Alochan is visiting friends in Auckland. Tho friends of Mr. V. Rankin will regret to learn that he was thrown from his horse, injuring his collarbone.
