GOERING AND HITLER AT LOGGERHEADS?
Policy Towards Soviet in Dispute United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright. LONDON, Dec. 29. Field-Marshal Goerlng’s absence from Christmas festivals in the Belch has caused comment. The Dally Mall points out that Hitler and General von Brauchitscb, Com-mander-in-Chief of the German Army, went to the front and that Eodolf Hess, Hitler's deputy, and Dr Goebbels, Nazi Propaganda Minister, made speeches. Others, too, were active, but Goering stayed at his country home. The French radio mentions reports that Goering is not satisfied with Hitler’s friendly policy towards the Soviet. The French political commentator, Madame Tabouis, writing in the newspaper L’Oeuvre, says that Hitler’s coldness towards Goering dates from the kidnapping of two Britons in Holland who, he says, were in communication with Goering. The Gestapo (German secret police) tracked their correspondence, and Hitler ordered the Britons to b« questioned about how far Goering's policy differed from his own. Other sources say that Goering is deliberately keeping in the background until a definite issue emerges from the violent discussions which are believed to be raging about the future conduct of the war and German-Soviet relations.
