Warrant Out For Arrest of German Magnate
(Received 30, 12.45 p.m.) ZURICH, Dec. 29. The German police have issued an [international warrant for the arrest of for. Fritz Thyssen, the former German ateel magnate, on charges of embezzlement, fraud, and non-payment of in-come-tax. Dr. Thyssen has gone to [Portugal. I Dr. Thyssen recently escaped to [Switzerland from Germans’, and in interviews with the Press made bitter Attacks on the Nazi regime. In Zurich last week he said that he •And other German industrialists had
spent 62-million Reichsmarks in 12 years for the support and upkeep of the Nazi Party. He revealed that before von Ribbentrop went to Moscow to negotiate the pact with Russia the Government held; a conference with industrial heads, at l ,which Dr. Thyssen strongly protested) Against the pact. Industrialists were* biot informed of the Government’s in-] tent ion a. j Dr. Thyssen's family, totalling 30, idecided to flee immediately. | He added that the extreme shortage -of German raw materials was more [seriously affecting the steel industry •than was admitted. The production figures were largely bluff. The Army Command was not aware that alloys, instead of steel, were being used in the production of armaments. Substitutes rwere frequently used where steel was .essential.
