The Botany Division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Hosearch is actively following ap investigations concerning the growth in .New Zealand of medicinal plants, supplies of which are being secured from (ireat Britain. The department has also had prepared a comprehensive report upon the economic aspects of New Zealand seaweed. The possibilities of using New Zealand seaweed are being explored for industrial purposes and if the position seems worth while further work will be done in endeavours to estimate the quant) ties of weed available and rates of rc growth of the New Zealand species.
