Caledonian Gathering at Feilding

TO-DAY’S MEETING AT JOHNSTON PARK Sons and daughters of Scotland from over a wide area will congregate at Feilding to-day for the big Caledonian gathering to bo hold on Johnston Park, commencing at 11.30 a.m. This meeting is sponsored by the committee of the Feilding Caledonian Pipe Band and is the second annual fixture. Last year the meeting attracted wonderful support, indicating that the promoters were fully justified in reinstating in this district a popular Scottish gatheringJ synchronising with the passing of the old year and the welcome to the new year. The drum-majors ’ display which won the championship at Christchurch in February last will be a feature of today’s* gathering. This unique performance sails for 45 movements and 49 evolutions and at Christchurch it was witnessed by and thrilled over 40,000 spectators. It wil lbe a day of entertainment for all and as a holiday outing should attract a large attendance. In the evening the massed pipe bands will parade through the town for the Caledonian concert to be held at the Drill Hall.
