Cool Drinks for the Holidays

Orange Syrup. Thinly pared rinds of eight oranges, 51b. sugar, ljoz. citric acid, eight t.umblers water. Put all ingredients into a largo jar and stir every day. When sugar has quite dissolved, strain and bottle. When using dilute to taste with cold water. Grapefruit Crush. One grapefruit, one lemon, II gallons water, lib. sugar, one egg white, yeast. Peel grapefruit and lemon thinly, and boil it in two pints of the water for 15 minutes. Put into a basin tho sugar, friut juice and the strained liquid from saucepan. Stir until sugar is dissolved, then add remaining water. Beat white of egg and stir into mixture. Dissolve the yeast in a little tepid liquid taken from saucepan, and add it to the mixture. Mix well and bottle' immediaely. This should be ready to drink in two or three days. Apple and Lemon Drirfc. Three large cooking apples, juice and rind of one lemon, one quart water, sugar. Wipe apples and cut them up roughly. Put them into a saucepan with the lemon rind and water, and allow to simmer until fruit is reduced to a pulp. Rub mixture through a sieve and add lemon juice and sugar to taste.
