EXCITING CROQUET FOR GOLDFINCH BUTTONS
Holders Retain Coveted Trophies MESDAMES SCHAW AND lIOUTEN DEFEAT MESDAMES KENYON AND WHILLANS The third of the series of croquet matches for tho Goldfinch challenge buttons was played on the Woodville Croquet Club’s beautiful green yesterday afternoon. The playing area was in excellent condition and tho weather j ideal. The match between Mesdames Schaw and Houten (holders) and Mesdames Kenyon and Whillans (challengers), and jvon by the former pair by 26 to 20, was most intereting, as the score indicates, the standard of play being high. This is the third consecutive win ex- j perienced by Mesdames Schaw and Houten in this series', their performance j yesterday against the strong combina-' tion of Mrs. Kenyon and Mrs Whillans being particularly noteworthy. The results of previous matches for* the buttons are as follow:—Mesdames Schaw and Houten defeated Mesdnmes Guest and Smith, 26—13; Mesdames Schaw aud Houten defeated Mesdames Halpin and Gardner, 26—22.
