Bridge Party at Ridgelands, Feilding

The jolliest afternoon imaginable was given Miss Amy Phillips on Monday by Mrs E. M. Meyrick at her home on tho Ridgelands hill. It was to have been a tennis party but unfortunately the weather proved too boisterous. The hostess therefore set out a number of tables in her drawing and dining rooms so that the guests found the occasion a very interesting one after all. Throughout her house Mrs Meyrick had arranged gorgeous dahlias from her , pretty garden and the rich tones of these fascinating autumn flowers introduced warmth and colour that was most effective. Tea was served in the hall. Mrs. Meyrick was wearing a robe of brown figured inarocain and Miss Amy Phillips a blue frock sprigged with white and matching hat, .while Mrs Phillips for whom there was also a table of players was in a navy ensemble with white relief and a hat en suite. Those who won the prizes were Mrs C. G. Pratt, Misses Patricia Goodbehere, Dorothy Burrell and Maisie Bell. Among others at the party were Mesdames 0. E. Johnston, W. Caldwell (Gisborne), H. B. Johnston, C. Wirgman Wood, Misses B. Eliott, M. Higgie, G. Kellow, P, Young (•Palmerston N.), L. Hare, N. Hocking, M. Ross, F. and P. Conway, E. Booth and G. and K. Buchanan.
