Dance at Feilding For Morrinsville Visitor

Miss Isabel Shirley, of Morrinsville, who has been on a visit to relatives in Feilding and who departed on Tuesday was given a particularly cheery dance the previous evening by her two cousins, Misses Edna Bowater and Joyce Bennett. The W.D.F.U. rooms had been chosen for the event and had as their decoration delicately tinted sweet peas and autumn foliage. Well over 40 guests were present and as there were many novelty dances, including several new to the town, it was necessarily a most successful function. In addition to music supplied by Mr D. Durie there were extras played by Miss Dorothy Taylor and Mr Ron Lamberton, of Palmerston North. Mr Don Lamberton carried out the duties of M.C. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs D. Salter, of Raetihi, and Mr B. Bennett, the lucky Gay Gordons by Miss Beryl Gray and Mr B. Bennett, and the statue log cabin by the guest of the evening and Mr D. Lamberton. Among other novelty dances were the proverb military twostep, streamer and confetti fox-trot and ta-ta fox-trot. With tho singing of “Auld Lang Syne” this very enjoyable occasion was brought to an end at 1 o ’clock. Miss E. Bowater was wearing a frock of candy pink suede elegant crepe finished at the corsage with a pretty blue spray, Miss J. Bennett was in leaf green novelty matalasse and Miss I. Shirley in a graceful model of white windswept suede georgette.
