First Meeting of St. David’s Church Ladies’ Guild
St. David's Guild held the first meeting of the year on Wednesday the Church Bible Class room being gay with roses, sweet peas and hydrangeas. Airs A. Stewart, who presided, commented on the pleasing attendance, and in welcoming members and visitors wished them a happy and prosperous New Year. I* ‘Let us all put our shoulders to the wheel and make this year even more successful than iho last,” said Airs ,Stewart. She suggested that the guild should make an effort to augment the church funds, and asked members to think of ideas in this direction for a 1 suggestion box next month. Aliss Linden Boag kindly acted as secretary for the meeting, the resignation of Airs C. Anderson, the .former secretary, being received with regret. It was decided to write to Airs Anderson, thanking her for her services, and to hold over the appointment of a new secretary until the next meeting. A letter is to be sent to Airs Newlauds, expressing the guild’s sympathy with her in the death of her brother. An enjoyable programme opened with pianoforto solos, “Serenata” (Aloritz Moszkowski), and “Waltz In E Atajor” (Brahms) which were finely rendered by Aliss Boag. Two songs, “They Say,” and “Sleep, Littlo Ruffly Fluffy Bird,” contributed by Airs R. DonakJ, proved delightful. Airs J. G. Crooks was the accompaniste. A competition was won by Aliss Alelva Day. Afternoon tea was served by Alesdames Stewart, J. S. Pate, and G. Glendinning, and Aliss Boag. Thanks to the hostesses and contributors were voiced by Airs J. H. Gilchrist, and Rev. J. 8.
