Parties for Miss Amy Phillips
Very happy parties for Miss Amy Phillips took place both on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, the first being given by Aliss Gwen Ivellow at “Nauuiai, ” her home in Sandilands street and the second by Miss Joan Cousins at "Hiamoe, ” her home in Colyton. At Miss Kellow’s afternoon tennis proved as popular as is usual on a (bright, sunny day and the guests were not attracted indoors until afternoon tea time. There was much fun over | the teacups, however, and the drawingroom arranged with dahlias, antirrhinums and other autumn flowers made a I very gay background for the visitors who were Mesdames H. Wirgrnan Wood, Ross, E. M. Meyrick, J. Clark, Misses L. Hare, P. Young (Palmerston North), P. Goodbehere, F. and R. Conway, M. Hare, E. Booth, M. Ross, H. Cornfoot, J. Campbell, D. Burrell, N. . Hocking, M. Bell ajid J. Harper. On Wednesday the weather was moro suited to indoor amusement so a bright and interesting time was spent playing bridge. The charming decorations in the house were carried out with red dahlias and a variety of other flowers in soft tones of pink. Airs. R. W. Buchanan and Miss Phyllis Weston (Alangaweka) were those who carried off the bridge prizes and others present were Alesdames G. Phillips, David Bell, A. Langdon, Aiisses Akers (Palmerston North), Alison AtcGregor (Mangaweka), Alary Matthew's (Palmerston North), Al. Ifiggie, P. Cornfoot, J. Campbell, R. Conway, AI. Bell, P. Goodbehere, K. Buchanan and S. Cousins, several of whom were the guests of and were entertained by Airs. Cousins.
