The Weather
(To the Editor.) Sir,—A correspondent wrote a letter to your Saturday morning paper of the oth instant under the heading ‘‘The Weather,” saying that the few days fine that we had last week would continue. Nevertheless we are back to ram and wind again, and further down the letter the correspondent snys: “Lot us arm ourselves and district against undesirable weather by, following the ancient precept: ‘Ask and ye shall have,' ” and suggesting that if people would pray with him we could have every Saturday, Sunday and Monday line, and wind and rain would have to come on the other days. My reply is that it is well that we have no control over the weather, and if we did you could not get people to agree. It is very hard to get 12 men to agree on a jury sometimes. In AuS tralia praying for rain has been tried for months in dry seasons, but failed, and according to astronomy the seasons are forecast three and six months or even yeurs ahead, and the forecast for the autumn and winter for this year is the same as last year with the exception of more wind for the autumn.
