Mr G. Graham, of Riverle* road, Hastings, left yesterday morning for Wellington hospital. Mr Wilfred McKee, of Fernhill, left yesterday for Wellington to tako up a position in the Police force. Mr T. Mason-Chambers, of Havelock North, who was a member of the H.B. County Council for over 40 years, and is at present an inmate of a private hospital in Hastings, is to receive a letter from the council expressing regret at his illness and the hope that he will make a speedy recovery. Mr J. Morling, who recently left Napier to tako up his appointment bs Chief Judge of Western bamoa, is to receive tho congratulations of the H.B. County Council. Mr Morling was fbr many years, one of the council's legal advisers. Mr H. J. Russell, secretary of the Hawke’s Bay War Relief Association, has entered the Wellington Hospital for special treatment. Mr Russell has been secretary of the association since its inception 21 years ago, and has the splendid record of never having missed a meeting of the association. A pleasing function took place on tho Bluff Hill bowling green on Saturday afternoon, when Mr J. T. Dunlop, who has been transferred to Wanganui, and who has been a member of the Bluff Hill club since coming to Napier, was farewelled and was made the recipient of a presentation and a host of good wishes from his fellow-members of the club. Mr and Mrs R. Hunt, of Hastings, left yesterday morning by the south-bound mail for Wellington en route for a trip abroad, including visits to the Old Country, the Continent and America. There was a big and enthusiastic assemblage of friends at the station to wish them a happy holiday, the train departing amid a confusion of coloured streamers and confetti and tho singing of “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” Miss Tierney, Ongaonga, who has been spending her annual leave in Wellington and Napier has returned home. Mr P. Bollons, secretary of the Waipukurau branch of the Hawke’s BayWar Relief Association, has asked to be relieved of his position. Mr Bollons was appointed secretary of the Waipukurau Patriotic Society in 1914, and on the merging of the various patriotic societies into the War Relief Associaton, he was appointed secretary of til* Waipukurau branch and has held that position ever since. Regret was expressed by members at the Association's last meeting, when a record was made in tho minutes of Mr Bollons’s services. Mr N. J. McKay, the retiring president of the Waipawa Golf Club, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the annual meeting of the club for his services during the three-years term of office. Mr and Mrs E. W. Bond and Miss F. Gray, Waipawa, are at present in Gisborne. Mr J. R. Barker, Waipawa, who has been on a visit to Taupo, has returned. At the annual meeting of the Wsw pawa Golf Club, the election of officers for the coming year resulted:—President, S. W. Btrang; vice-presidents, Messrs R. Bishop and G. Shackleford; captain, Mr E. J. Watts; vice-captain, Mr C. E. T. Woods; secretary, Mr D. H. Edwards; auditor, Mr E. W. Chisholm; committee, Messrs Jopsou, Tickuer, Norris, Shackleford, Knobloch and Stewart,; handicapper, Mr E. J. Watts. Tho new headmaster of the Waipukurau High School, Mr V. Parsons, and Mrs Parsons, were welcomed by the .school committee at its monthly meeting. The committee approved of the appointment of Miss D. Marfell as probationary assistant on the staff of the school.
