High Scoring in Club Cricket
EVANS 138 NOT OUT. BURNS 111, REANEY 96. (Special to “Times.”) HASTINGS, Feb. 8. The absence of the Hawke’s Bay senior eleven at Gisborne on Saturday made little difference to the series of high team and individual scores which have marked senior matches in the Napier-Hastings senior cricket competition during the past few weeks. The match at Nelson Park, Napier, between Technical 0.8. and Hastings H. 5.0.8. saw Technical at stumps with 378 on the board for tho loss of seven wickets I and E. Evans undefeated with 138 to jhis credit. Other large scores were 111 by Burns in the same innings and 96 by H. E. I. R-canev for Napier ll.&O.B. against Hastings. Two games of tho new series Mere played in Napier. In one of them, Technical have established a lirst-iun-ings score of seven for 378 against Hastings H. 5.0.8., and in the other Napier H.R.0.8. are all out for 215, with Hastings one for 29 in reply. In the only Hastings match there was very poor scoring. Rugby hold an advantage of 33 runs over United on tho first innings. Rugby scored 99 and United 60. Napier junior matches were marked by high Bcoring. P. Smith scored 139 not out, for harbour Board against High School, Wilson 51 not out, for H.&.0.8. against Technical Colts, Kronk 110 not out, for United High School, E. T. Moss 133 not out, for Scinde against Williams and Kettle, and P. Greaney, 77 not out, in the same innings. Bowling for Old Boys against the Colts, Cray took fivo for 13 and performed the hattrick.
