Wife of Dominion’s Finance Minister at Home
SIMPLICITY, THE KEYNOTE OF HER LITE “Simplicity is the keynote of the life of Mrs Walter Nash, wife of the New Zealand Minister of Finance,” states a writer in an English journal. “ With an idealist for a husband, and a practical one at that, she has a lot to live up to, and does it in a remarkable way. She likes to keep in the background. From that vantage point she does much successful social welfare work.
“Mrs Nash’s numerous activities in this direction include work for the Plunket Society, for the social committee of the Y.W.C.A., of which she is a vice-president, being also a vicepresident of the League of Mothers, and on the committee of the Residential Nursery. Of course, she is of considerable help to her husband in his constituency—Hutt. f 1
The first time I saw Mrs Nash 1 did not know who she was, the writer states. I thought, what a perfectly dressed woman! That is where" her passion for simplicity comes in again. By it she has attained the summit of the sartorial art. She has done so unconsciously. You never know what she is wearing, only that it is in exquisite taste.
Both Mr and Mrs Nash were born in this country, he in Kidderminster, she in Birmingham, but went to the Dominion after their first son was born. Their other two sons were born there.
