Manawatu Defeats Hawke’s Bay IN CLOSELY CONTESTED CHALLENGE Excitement ran at fever heat at Napier on Saturday when it was real ised that Manawatu’s challenge for the Christie tennis cup was going to be a neck-and-neck race right up to the final tally. In rubbers both sides were equal, 12 all, but in sets Manawatu emerged victorious by 28 to 26 and in games by 265 to 258. The challengers thus recaptured the trophy which has been held by Hawke’s Bay for two or three years. Results were as follow, Manawatu players mentioned first:— Men’s singles: D. I. Robertson beat P.
