Dr. and Mrs Phillips, Of Feilding, Farewelled

The approaching departure from Feilding of Dr., Mrs. and Miss Amy Phillips is causing widespread regret and when they leave to reside elsewhere owing to the doctor’s retirement from his profession, they will be very sadly missed in the town where they have lived for about 21 years. Within the last week various parties have been given for this popular trio and one of the brightest was that held on Thursday evening at the homo of Air. and Mrs. S. A., Parkes and at which the latter and Airs. W. H. McLean were hostesses. Five tables were set out for bridge in the drawing-room where a wealth of hydrangeas in lovely shades of pink, blue and mauve were arranged fb the best possible advantage and supper was dispensed in the dining-room to which autumn tones were introduced by Iceland poppies, montbreias and other brilliantly coloured flowers. In the course of proceedings Mr. Parkes proposed the toast of the guests of the evening and this was mojft enthusiastically honoured. The bridge prizes were won by Mr. and Mrs. C. B. C. Evans, Mr. M. R. McEwen and Miss Holmes.
