The Waipukurau lire Brigade received a call to a scrub lire on a vacant section in Kuatauiwha street, next to tho Salvation Army Hall, just after two o’clock on Wednesday afternoon. Tho brigado made an exceptionally quick turn-out, arriving at tho scene of the tiro and having tho water playing on it two and a-half minutes after tho alarm first sounded. The cause of tho outbreak is unknown. A wooden fence and a bach ou tho next section had a very narrow escape.
