DANNEVIRKE WATERWORKS INSPECTED. Yesterday morning the Mayor, borough councillors, the town clerk (Mr. G. F. O’Hara Smith), and the waterworks foreman (Mr. C. Scott) made an inspection of the borough water head works for the purpose of viewing the extent of the damage caused by the recent cloud burst, and to consider steps to be taken to guard against, as far as possible, further damage in the future. Mr. Scott is to prepare a report for presentation to the council.

DANNEVIRKE COLLECTS NINETY PER CENT OF RATES. Monday was a busy day for the office staff of the Dannevirko Boaough Council, being the last day for the payment of the borough rates for the current year before the imposition of the penalty rate. The total consolidated and water rate collected for the present year up to February 1 amounted to £10,750, being 90 per cent, of the rates struck, as compared with 87.8 per cent, collected this time last year.
